Spring 2022 History of Musicial Theatre (MUSC-245-11, THA-245-11)
Course Description This survey examines the history and evolution of contemporary musical theater. This course gives students the opportunity to evaluate and compare a variety of musicals from the earliest examples, including examples from around the world, and into present-day Broadway Musicals. Major concepts include medieval to Renaissance influences, the impact of opera, the intricacies of performance and costuming, adaptations, and concept musicals. This course fulfills 3 credits General Education credits in the Fine Arts (FA).
